Main Functions of Child Protection Representatives

The main functions of the Child Protection Representatives are:

  • To promote awareness of the Church’s child protection policies
  • To ensure that the public has ready access to contact details for the Director of Child Protection and
  • To facilitate anyone in the parish in bringing an allegation or suspicion of child abuse to the attention of the Director of Child Protection, should they wish to have such support.

To this end our Parish Policy Statement (see below) is displayed on the notice board of the church together with a list of contacts.

We hope to have an information session over the coming months for the parents/guardians of children involved in parish activities (e.g. those involved in the Family mass; children serving at the altar, children going on trips or pilgrimages etc).

Child Protection Parish Policy Statement

The parish recognises the dignity and rights of all children and is committed to their protection and support.

St. Mary’s undertakes to do all in its power to create a safe environment for children and young people and to ensure their protection from physical, sexual and emotional abuse.

This is in accordance with the policy of the Archdiocese of Dublin.
